Drag It Out

HELLO - HELLO - HELLO :-)

Woah, it's been a while since I last updated this little sucker.
I've been an extremely busy bee along with sunning myself up in Spain lately that I've literally abandoned by poor little blog.

- - -

This is just a quick update of a look I done one night on myself back in April.
It's been YONKS since I done a self design in the comfort of my own little bedroom, taking be back to the days when I had all the time in world to play around with crazy ideas and chuck them on my face.

I thought I'd go all out this time around & decided to be a Drag Queen for the night.

If you wanna try it out then here are the steps below.

  • The look consisted of a LOT of foundation. (Illamasqua Rich Liquid 115)
  • Layer upon layer was added to my face until it resembled a blank canvas.
  • I could then contour my nose and cheekbones with some dark bronzer. I also created a drimple in my chin with this as well. (Illamasqua Duo Bronzer)
  • My eyebrows were created with (Smashbox Brow Tech - Brunette)
  • I then used (Illamasqua Concealer in Black & White) to eyeline my eyes and fill in under the eye to create the look of them being larger than normal.
  •  I finished off the look with (Elizabeth Arden Lip Crayon in Natural) on the lips outlining around the mouth to make it larger and shadowing underneath with the above bronzer.
  •  & Finished with a slick of (Smashbox Clear Gloss)
 - - -

Of course the hair is not mines either. It's actually a Clip On Fringe that I had applied to the front of my head backwards & parted down the middle to give the look of a full head of brown hair.

These are available in all Sally's/Debenhams/Boots for around £8.

If anyone does decide to go ahead & give the look a bash then please do & send me a photo via email so I can have a look. I'm always interested to see other peoples work.

Until next time bloggers,
Amy x

Fashion Forward

G'day Folks..

What a busy couple of weeks it's been for myself. Not just regarding the make up world but in general. Had a lot going on so apologies for the delay in updating this little sucker.

I had the privilege of working the lovely designer Miss Jennie Lööf last week on her stunning shoot for ASOS. It was an amazing team to be part of for
the day with images that look out of this world & that's BEFORE any retouching.

The shoot took place in the gardens of Jennie's studio where nestled beneath the trees lay 50's sun loungers, great woodland and some other fascinating bits & bobs. The weather stood the test of time for us & didn't disappoint. It may have been FREEZING & props to our 3 beautiful models for braving the cold but the sun was still shining & helped us through the day.

I was in charge of not only make up but also hair on thi
s shoot & I must say I was very happy with the outcome. With nothing TOO dramatic and bed head chic going out it was time to let the clothes do the talking. Each garment of clothing was beautifully designed & made by Jennie herself with every detail having been given 100% of her time & effort. & I must say it shows.

I cannot wait to launch date of this beautiful collection of clothes to go on sale & up on ASOS & to show the world what their made of. Below is a behind
the scenes snap that I caught on my handy little iPhone of the final image of all 3 models in their chosen item of the day.

I'm collaborating with the lovely Jennie again this Saturday for a Midsummer Nights Dream shoot & I must admit I cannot wait. It's taking place in a "Secret Location" that I'm stoke to get my paws on along with a crazy theme that let's me explore outside the box & let my inner creative animal run wild & free.

I'll be back to update on this exciting shoot along with the final images of this one.

Until then,
Peace & Love

Shoot Me Up

I'm very happy to see that my blog has over 1000 views since I started it up not that long ago. Considering I've not been keeping on top of it every day like I vowed I would at the start of the year I'm extremely proud & grateful to all who read it. Even if it's just one post that you've glanced at or you read each time I update then I'm thankful :-) Maybe one day I'll reach 10,000 .... **Gulps**

I was on a bit of a buzz kill recently considering I've been without a car for about a month now & only just getting a courtesy car last Friday I felt like I was lagging behind with my work. I had to cancel/decline shoots that I had been looking forward to due to the sheer fact of inconvenience & it was starting to get me down. BUT I've turned over a new leaf & realised that everything happens for a reason and I'm now more than pumped up for my up & coming shoots that are planned. I have an advertising campaign in the pipeline along with a large fashion project that I'm stoked about.

Each day I get booked for work, asked to do TFP shoots, paid shoots, fashion shows etc I feel a sense of pride at the fact that 3 years ago this was all a fantasy for myself. I never once thought that the things that I've done I could be achieving in such a short space of time. From painting my own face everything under the sun in my room to working on projects for the BBC has literally been INSANE. It shows me that hard work DOES pay off & if you believe in yourself and don't give up then you can get places.

Of course...I have a LONG way to go if I ever want to achieve my dream of working for Vogue one day but I now I don't see this as some ridiculous fantasy that I have in my head, I actually see it as a challenge and I'm willing to do anything to get there. May that be in the next 5 years or the next 20 I wont give up as if I had when I've had set backs in the past then I wouldn't be where I am today.

This has been quite a long winded post, much like all my other ones to be fair & also quite deep which is odd for myself as they're usually quite light hearted and informative. I just had a sense of realisation today that made me feel the need to express myself through writing my words down, I tend to ramble when explaining in person as my Mum, Dad, Boyfriend & whole extended family & Friends will probably tell you.

So with all that in mind I'm telling whoever may be reading this (If you've lasted that long that is..) that no matter what your dream may be then never give up on it. No matter how may set backs you get don't let it put you down, or make you give up. Turn the negative into a positive & use it to plough on through and show whoever/whatever has stopped you in the past that no matter what you're willing to succeed.

Follow your dreams..& Don't never get lost in other peoples negativity..

Before I go I just have one last plug :

I'm doing the 10K run as part of the Edinburgh Marathon in May for MacMillan Cancer Support.
I have an online donating page that I just set up & anyone who would be willing to sponsor me can head there & part with some well earned cash.

So long,
Amy x

Little Minx

First of all I'd like to take this moment to shout from the rooftops that my beautiful little car has been found.
I cannot believe it but she's been found alive & well in someone's DRIVEWAY!
It was almost hitting the awful 2 week mark that she'd been stolen & I was preparing myself for the worst when I got the phonecall from the CID but I'm extremely happy to say that she's still with us.

<3 <3 <3

Anyway..Back to business!!
It was sometime last week when I caught the undoubtdly stunning Miss Myleene Klass gracing my tv screen..AGAIN! (Ahem..) I was wondering to myself "What is she advertising now.." when I seen that it was only D-I-Y Minx Nails!!

I knew I had to try them out as I had previously got Minx nails done on myself in a Salon which being honest were great at the time & looked fab but for £25 I thought it was a bit steep for some transfers.
I headed down to my local ASDA, well I'll be honest..My Mum headed down to my local ASDA while I was slaving away at work & purchased me a set with her weekly shop. They come in at a nice smart price of £6.
Compared to that of a salon price I thought it was great, but only time would tell if they were worth it.

It was last night I decided to try them out after I returned home from my trip to the Health Suite where I well & truly detoxed in the Sauna, Steam Room & Jacuzzi. The ones my Mum had picked me up were navy with white polka dots. Just my style. After reading the "Instructions" I got cracking.
There's 3 steps to applying them which were easy peasy in my eyes :

1. Pick the transfer that best suits your nail shape & attach it curved side down at your cuticle and press down firmly until transfer is smooth (No glue required).

2. Use scissors to cut excess transfer down to the tip of your nail leaving a little extra to cleanly file.

3. Use filing board which is included to gently file in a downwards motion to desired shape of your nail.

& VOILAAAA!!
You have perfect Minx'd up nails for only a fraction of the price & fraction of the time.

(These are actually my nails from last night)

A product in which I'll most definetely be trying again.
I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to jazz up their hands.
Until next time..

A New Year

Come 12AM tonight the dreaded January Blues will be over & finally we'll be into Febuary. For some reason this month has dragged in & hasn't been the best of starts to 2012 as I'd hoped. I've decided that I'm not going to dwell on what's happened over this month though, especially the last week & instead look forward to this year & be happy that I'm healthy & have a good family, friends & boyfriend around me to keep me sane. Well, with the odd dose of insanity as well obviously to keep it all balanced ;-)

I'm very happy to say that I've got lots of work in the pipeline for the up & coming year as well as some cheeky bookings in for 2013 already which is INSANE!! I also finally got around to ordering myself some new business cards as well which I had been meaning to do for AGES!! I still feel blessed that I get to do something that I love so much for a living as well as keeping my Para Planning business on the go as well. No rest for the wicked they say & I must say that I have to agree on every level of this comment.

For now I'll wish you all a farewell until my next post which will hopefully be daily as I have my trusty Blog App on the good iPhone so I really have no excuse to be slacking!! Before I head though I'll just be posting one photo on this update & it's of a spectacular place that I'll be to in August.

EGYPT!! ~ I cannot wait for the sun!!

Until next time big Blog world :

End of an Era..

First of all before I start my ramblings I'd like to say..

MERRY CHRISTMAS
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I cannot believe I haven't updated this since the early days of NOVEMBER!!
My life has been thrown upside down the last month or so with a million & one things that needed done & obviously me not being able to say no to anyone had a big part to play in it.
Self inflicted really then eh??

I've got a few images to upload from my shoots that I've done & also the BBC Vintage Fashion Show that I worked at. I wanted to do a post on each but as I'm writing this I'm sitting in my comfies when I should be packing my case as I'm off to ESPANA tomorrow morning to spend 12 days in the sun with my boyfriend for New Years. Very excited as I've never been away for New Year as I usually spend it with my 3 wives. As I'm not then I wish each of them a FAB New Year & I'll see them on the 8th when I return.

Back to business..
My first upload is the finished prints from my Futuristic Shoot

Amazing shoot with an amazing team.

- - - -

Next I'm on to the BBC Vintage Fashion Show.
It was an amazing experience..Hectic as I was the only MUA there for 20 + Models & I was also hair styling but it was worth every minute of hard work as it wasn't just for the BBC it was for a fantastic cause for a Gaelic Charity. Here as some shots..

It was a pleasure to work with everyone and the final cuts were amazing.

- - - -

Finally there is the hilarious shoot with new model Oliver Wright..We had trouble with our planned female model so using my initiative I decided to go out & scout on Glasgow's Argyle Street & to my amazement I got an AMAZING girl called Nicole Serzhantova who was willing to fill in. She did an awesome job and you would have never known she'd been hand picked at the last minute.

The shoot & theme worked perfect & I'm so grateful to photographer Siobhan Stewart for making the images :-)

- - - -
Final thoughts before I head off to sort my packing out I'd just like to say a big THANKYOU to everyone who I've worked with in 2011..It's been a crazy year in every aspect & I never expected to do HALF the stuff that I have so I really am grateful for all the opportunities I've been given. A lot has gone down in a year and it's crazy to think of what's happened but I just hope that 2012 is just as good if not better and everyone achieves what they want to achieve.

NEVER STOP BELIEVING CHILDREN!!
(Even in Santa..)

I hope everyone has an AWESOME New Year & I'll be thinking of you all when I'm sunning myself.

Peace & Love..
